Melissa messaged me on Monday saying she was getting married that Friday and wondered if I could take the pictures. Flash wedding? I’m in. That message was her first step in planning the wedding. I love when brides prioritize pictures above all else (including the dress) even if it was only 4 days before the wedding. :)

Sergio and Melissa chose to exchange vows in the park where they had long talks, shared their first kiss and ultimately fell in love. It was the perfect location, along the Minnesota River by the Old Cedar Bridge.

To them, getting married was more important than all the typical wedding fanfare. Melissa found a dress she loved on Wednesday, she had her old Converse for shoes and a denim jacket in case she got cold. (later on, she slipped on some heels for fun that Sergio loves.) The venue could not have been more perfect for them filled with memories and meaning. A friend brought some votives in jars to light their “path” down the aisle and the weather shined its golden evening setting sun on them as they said “I do.”

They didn’t know for sure who would be there other than their kids, Sergio”s mother and siblings. But as they approached the ceremony space they were greeted with so many friends who loved them and wanted to share this moment with them.

Hugs, laughter and tears of joy and just like that, Sergio and Melissa became Husband & Wife.
